IMPROVE YOUR MARRIAGE
FAMILY CHALLENGES
FIND TIME TO TALK
- Try to set up a time to talk or have weekly meetings
- Avoid having your talk or meeting right before you're going to sleep
- Some topics are easier to discuss & can be settled in one discussion
1. Who does the shopping?
2. Who takes out the garbage?
3. Who picks up clothing from the cleaners?
4. Who stays home to take care of a sick child
5. Who drives the kids to their basketball practices & ballet lessons - Some topics can't be settled in one discussion
1. Boubi coming to visit for a month?
2. How to come up with kids tuition?
3. Where should we live?
4. Is our teen in trouble? - Express your feelings on 1 subject & keep it simple
- When your husband responds, look at him & listen carefully his responses
- No matter how hard it is, don't interrupt your husband until he finishes what he wants to say
- If your husband's responses upset you, try to respond to him calmly
- If you don't resolve the issue , try to make a tentative date to continue the discussion
- Let your husband know how much you appreciate that he took the time to have this discussion
APPRECIATE YOUR HUSBAND
- Compliment your husband when he does something well
- Don’t forget to thank your husband at least once a day
1. When he does something you'd rather not have to do
2. When he does something unexpected just for you
