- Take an elevator
- Make sure that there are others in the elevator or going in with you
- Do NOT go into an elevator with 1 man in it or 2 or more males who are obviously together

- Call 911 & report what you are seeing

DO NOT GIVE YOUR PURSE OR WALLET TO A THIEF
- Throw it as far away as possible
- Run in the other direction

IF SOMEONE POINTS A GUN AT YOU BUT DOESN'T GRAB YOU
- Do NOT just stand there
- Run away in a zig-zag pattern
- Shout for help

IF YOU ARE PLACED IN THE TRUNK OF A CAR
- Kick out the back tail light
- Stick your arm or leg out of the hole & start waving like crazy

IF YOU'RE PARKED IN A PARKING STRUCTURE OR LOT
- Walk near a group of shoppers to get to your car
- Find security to walk you to your car if your car is at an isolated area in the structure or lot
- Have your key ready
- From a foot or so away from your vehicle look under your car to make sure no one is hiding there
- If you are closer someone hiding under the car could grab you by your ankles
- If you are parked with a van to your left enter your car from the passenger side
- Someone could be waiting to grab you & pull you into their van
- If there is a man sitting alone in the passenger seat to the left of your car leave & get a security guard
- As you open your door check the passenger side, 2nd row floor & 3rd row if you have one
- Place your packages in the car so you don't have to open your trunk when you get home

WHEN YOU GET IN THE CAR
- Immediately drive away
- Do NOT sit in the car & eat a snack fumble thru your purse or make a cell call
- Somone may be watching you because they could open your passenger door get into the car & point a gun at you & demand that you drive away
- If you see a note on your back window when you look behind you to move out of the parking space don't get out of the car to read it

IF SOMEONE RISES FROM THE BACK SEAT
& POINTS A GUN AT YOUR HEAD
- Do NOT just drive off with him as directed Instead speed ahead & crash into anything
- Your air bag will save you
- As soon as the car crashes open the door get out & run as fast as you can

WINDOWS SHOULD BE LOCKED
- If on the 1st floor
- If accessible from a fire escape or a tree

DOORS SHOULD BE LOCKED
- Always keep the front, back & side doors locked
- If someone rings your bell or knocks on your door use your 'peep hole to see who it is

DAY OR NIGHT
Do not open your door for anyone you don't know including
- Men collecting for charity (tzedaka) even if they are dressed in black hats
speak in Yiddish or Hebrew & say they are Rabbis - People who say they have an important delivery for you even if they ask for you
by your name - Anyone trying to sell you a service or paint your address on the curb
- Telephone company & cable representatives, water, electric & gas company employees
or police unless you've made an appointment to come to your home

AFTER DARK
- Do not bring back your garbage cans from the curb
- Do not work in your garage with the door open
- Do not unload groceries, shopping bags, etc.. from your trunk in your driveway
