CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless
& potentially deadly gas
- With gas stoves being used on 2 & 3 day Yom Tovs (holidays), there is a possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning
- If you have the air conditioning on & windows are kept closed you won't know about the danger
- Replace your smoke/carbon dioxide alarm batteries prior to the holidays
- All homes should have working CO detectors on each floor of your home
- Electric plug in models with a display & battery backup are recommended
- Your oven & stove top should have a hood above vented to the outside
- If you use a gas stove leave 2 windows open – one near the stove & another at the opposite side of the kitchen for cross ventilation & a supply of fresh air
- The fire department is equipped to check homes with multi-gas meters & remove CO so don’t hesitate to call them if your alarm goes off
